Lecture Session by Prof. Tyll Krüger

COENSOBEC got a head start when it organized a seminar on "Generalized epidemic processes on random graphs and applications" on 13th November 2009, within merely a week of its formation. We were honored to have Prof. Tyll Krüger of the Bielefeld University, Germany and his research scholar Mr. D. Sascha at the inaugural technical seminar of the society.

After the greetings and a short welcome speech put forward by our honorable Head of the Department Dr. Jaya Sil, Professor Kruger took over. He provided us an insight on random graphs and epidemic processes and how real life problems like spread of diseases, corruption etc. can be modeled using random graphs.
The seminar was very enlightening and the presence of the senior faculty members of the department made it even livelier. Professor Kruger's articulate ways of presentation kept us all agog for most of the time and we were galvanized by the ideas he presented.

The inaugural technical seminar had set the ball in motion and the inertia will be maintained in the year to come.

A special note of thanks for Dr. Biplab Kr. Sikdar without whose help the seminar would not have been possible.

Cheers
